State of the Square: April 2021
Don’t worry, folks. I think I’m getting tired of saying this too: March disappeared and we didn’t get a whole lot up on the site once again. But, this time, we had good reason! Let’s take a look back at the month and discuss what’s coming up.
First, we took a look at World Anvil, an amazing tool that assists with world building and campaign management. I use it for pretty much every game I run – both the world of Nareah and the Okuda Cluster have codices on World Anvil that are semi-regularly updated as games in those worlds proceed.
Additionally, we also took a closer look at the Okuda Cluster itself in an article that had a brief look at the history of the setting of Let the World Burn Away and, more generally, of Lancer. This was something of an important article to write because…
Let the World Burn Away actually launched during March! We managed to squeeze five whole prologue missions into a two week period, totally to around thirteen (!) hours of stream time just from the games themselves. All five of those episodes are available in multiple locations:
- our new YouTube channel (be sure to subscribe and like the videos!) has a playlist containing all the episodes, with new episodes being uploaded two days after they air live on Twitch
- our Twitch channel has every episode highlighted and added to a series collection immediately after they air
I think we have an amazing cast and have already covered quite a bit of story setup in the initial episodes. If you’d like the catch the first group episode live, it will air at 8PM Eastern on April 11th on our Twitch channel. Be sure to follow to get notifications for when we go live.
So, that’s it for what happened in March. Let’s talk about April!
Last month, I mentioned a secondary game in development – well, I’m happy to announce we have two games currently in development.
A Dungeons & Dragons Fifth Edition game, set in the world of Nareah mentioned above and previously visited in the article A Gift or a Curse? The Cult of the Hidden Queen, is currently in development to run on the Sundays which do not feature an episode of Let the World Burn Away.
Additionally, we have a cyberpunk series set in Fantasy Flight’s Android universe coming up featuring the Genesys roleplaying system from EDGE Studio. While we’re still figuring out details on exactly this series will air, New Angeles Nights is currently open for applications until further notice. I’m especially looking forward to this series as Android is a universe I’ve been especially fond of since its release back in the late 2000s.
We also have a special surprise to announce: on April 18th, we’ll be featuring a one-shot of the upcoming Necropunk. More details about this one shot will be coming up as we get closer.
So, that is, at the moment, what April is looking like. There’s a few other things I’m working on that aren’t ready to talk about publicly yet but I’m hoping will be making their way to light this month. I’ll have to check back in about them at the start of May!
I hope to see you back then!
